Children & Families Case Manager |
Job Summary:
A Care Manager with the Children and Families Unit works with clients who have child protection or juvenile justice needs. The unit uses
the family-centered Wisconsin Model to develop and implement case plans, with an eye to helping families assume responsibility
for their own safety needs as soon as possible in the life of the case plan. Care Managers help to connect families to resources,
and to coordinate services provided by this and other agencies. They also evaluate and update case plans, working closely with schools,
counselors, parent aides, law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, the courts, and other providers to maintain and improve safe
and stable family relationships.
Care Managers primarily manage ongoing, well-established child welfare or juvenile justice cases; however, they also do some child welfare investigations in collaboration with law enforcement, and participate in the unit’s 24/7 intake system, which fields calls concerning child protection issues. Care Managers document all work in the state’s automated child welfare system, WiSACWIS. The Children & Families Unit strives to maintain a supportive and collegial work environment with excellent job training and positive managerial support and consultation. |
